A Family in the Best Sense of the Word: Dominic and Robin Kohrs
Hunold + Knoop is a true family business. Not only because we’ve been family-owned since our founding in 1977, but also because the company is run in a very family-oriented way and the values that a family stands for are very important to us. We embody solidarity, trust, and reliability. We can count on our colleagues and support one another—just as it should be in a family.
Two people who perfectly embody this are brothers Dominic (33) and Robin Kohrs (30) from Ehringhausen.

The Kohrs Brothers—
, Dominic, and Robin
A whole new generation
His older brother Dominic has been with the company since he began his apprenticeship as a process mechanic in 2007; his brother Robin followed him five years later. “I knew from Dominic that H+K was a great employer, so toward the end of high school, I started working here part-time for 450 euros. At a Christmas tournament for the soccer team, I finally worked up the courage to ask the boss if he might have an apprenticeship spot for me,” recalls Robin Kohrs. One actually became available the following summer. And that’s how the younger of the two Kohrs brothers also joined Hunold + Knoop. Even during his apprenticeship, Robin had some exposure to quality assurance; after completing his apprenticeship, he took courses in quality management and test equipment management. Today, the 30-year-old father of two is responsible for product testing and issuing production approvals. “Robin has his own style; unlike his predecessor, who was already nearing retirement at the time, he embodies a whole new generation—and has quickly earned the trust of his colleagues and superiors through his professionalism,” reports Dominic Kohrs.
Brothers in Harmony: Shared Professional Responsibilities
The older of the two brothers is now the assistant team leader and, as an experienced set-up technician, also prepares the machines for production. This is also where their work intersects: The better and more carefully the older brother does his job, the more likely it is that the younger brother will be satisfied and give the go-ahead. “We actually never have any problems here, because we’re pretty much on the same page,” says Robin Kohrs. “We both value order and cleanliness and have a strong commitment to quality, which is why we get along so well—even on a professional level. We also always strive to treat our colleagues with respect and do our best to represent the company well to the outside world; we’re very similar in that regard, too.”
In their personal lives, they’re inseparable anyway
“We’re not just brothers—we’re also best friends. We trust each other 100 percent and have each other’s backs. It was like that back in our childhood, and it’s still the same today,” confirms Dominic, “even though we’re a little different in temperament: I’m more even-tempered, while Robin gets worked up more quickly,” Dominic smiles. Both brothers live with their families in their hometown of Ehringhausen; the younger one even lives on the upper floor of their parents’ house. That’s where the whole family often gets together—a family that now includes Robin’s two children and Dominic’s son.
We believe the two Kohrs brothers embody our company in a way that’s truly characteristic of us: down-to-earth and deeply rooted in their community, young yet experienced and professional, ambitious and dedicated. To us, they’re family in the best sense of the word. Just like Hunold + Knoop.
